Home MenuGeneral Orders
The Clayton Police Department is pleased to provide the public with access to our General Orders. General Orders are policies and procedures designed to assist all employees of the police department with accomplishing our mission in a professional and lawful manner. All employees have the responsibility to know and abide by these General Orders.
The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA), which is the primary accrediting authority for law enforcement, evaluates our General Orders and adherence to them during their assessment process every three years. This evaluation of the General Orders is one of the determining factors in maintaining our accreditation.
Our purpose for making these General Orders available is to show we operate by a specific set of guidelines ensuring honesty and integrity. General Orders that are identified by title only contain information about police procedures which could jeopardize officer safety if released. Any questions regarding these policies should be directed in writing to Lt. Jack Abell at jabell@claytonmo.gov.
