The Clayton Citizens Police Academy was developed to foster relationships between the Clayton community and the Clayton Police Department. Through discussion and hands-on opportunities, participants learn about the complexities of modern law enforcement and gain a better understanding of how police officers are trained to fulfill a myriad of responsibilities. Class topics include patrol procedures, criminal and juvenile laws, crime scene investigation, traffic enforcement, firearms familiarization, and more.

Participants will meet for approximately two hours on Thursday evenings for eight weeks, beginning at 6pm. Each week is designed to build upon lessons learned in previous classes, and attendance at all classes is recommended.

  • The upcoming Citizens Police Academy session will begin on Thursday, September 26, 2024.

This opportunity is open to Clayton residents and any Clayton-based business owners or employees. Admission is by application only. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, and a background check will be performed. Class size is limited, and applications will be reviewed as they are received.
