FAQ's
Q: Are all practices mandatory?
A: No, we know summer is a time for vacations and other activities. There is no requirement on the number of practices you must attend to stay on the team or participate in the meets. However, in the interest of improvement and experience, it is best to attend as many practices as possible.
Q: What is the minimum distance my child needs to swim?
A: A minimum of 25 yards without stopping or struggling is required to be on the team. Participants will be tested on the first day of practice.
Q: What equipment is required?
A: Swimmers are required to have a pair of goggles. A swim cap is recommended for swimmers with longer hair. The City of Clayton will provide a kickboard to all swimmers for use during practice.
Q: Will there be swim meets?
A: We will have a fun swim meet as part of the clinic on the last day that is not timed.
Q: I don't think my child is in the correct group, what should I do?
A: Swimmers are tested and separated into groups based off of their swimming ability during the first week of practice. If you feel your child is in the incorrect group, you can discuss it with the Head Coach after practice. The Head Coach may reevaluate your child and place him/her in the appropriate swim group.
