Overview

On May 25, 2010, the Board of Aldermen passed Ordinance No. 6105 establishing the Public Art Advisory Committee. The Mayor and Board of Aldermen appointed three standing members. Two alternate members, selected by the Public Art Advisory Committee, will serve at the request of the committee chair at meetings in the absence or disqualification of one or more standing members. All members and alternate members are to be residents and registered voters of the City of Clayton. Members and alternates will be art professionals or have extensive background in or familiarity with the field of art and will serve terms of three years.

The committee will advise the Mayor, Board of Aldermen and Plan Commission/Architectural Review Board on various considerations regarding public artwork for city and private developments, Planned Unit Developments or Special Development Districts.

Ordinance No. 6105 repealed Ordinance No. 5338 that in June 1997 established the Clayton Art Commission, a committee that assisted the city in acquiring public art and promoting and enhancing the city’s collection of public artwork.

Community Planning Meeting: Comprehensive Plan & Livable Community Plan Joint Event

  • Date: 03/28/2024 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM
  • Location: Center of Clayton
    50 Gay Avenue
    Clayton, Missouri 63105
  • Introduction: Join us for a community planning meeting focused on the Clayton Tomorrow 2040 Comprehensive Plan and the Livable Community Master Plan.

The City is hosting a public meeting on Thursday, March 28th from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Center of Clayton (50 Gay Ave.) to gather input for the ongoing long-range planning efforts. The Clayton Tomorrow 2040 Plan focuses on land use, economic development, and transportation. The Livable Community Plan focuses on parks, recreation, bicycle and pedestrian planning. There are many connections and overlaps between the two plans, so we are hosting a joint event for the community.

The joint public meeting is open house style, so you are welcome to come and go throughout the three hours of the event. The meeting will include various stations to solicit feedback and thoughts. There will also be a station for kids’ activities and coloring.

If you have attended other engagement events for either Clayton Tomorrow 2040 or the Livable Community Plan, we hope you will attend this event as well. There will be questions and topics covered at the joint meeting that have not been covered previously. This event will focus on the draft goals and recommendations for the final plan documents. The consultants leading the process and City staff will also be in attendance to facilitate the engagement and answer questions.
