Overview

On May 25, 2010, the Board of Aldermen passed Ordinance No. 6105 establishing the Public Art Advisory Committee. The Mayor and Board of Aldermen appointed three standing members. Two alternate members, selected by the Public Art Advisory Committee, will serve at the request of the committee chair at meetings in the absence or disqualification of one or more standing members. All members and alternate members are to be residents and registered voters of the City of Clayton. Members and alternates will be art professionals or have extensive background in or familiarity with the field of art and will serve terms of three years.

The committee will advise the Mayor, Board of Aldermen and Plan Commission/Architectural Review Board on various considerations regarding public artwork for city and private developments, Planned Unit Developments or Special Development Districts.

Ordinance No. 6105 repealed Ordinance No. 5338 that in June 1997 established the Clayton Art Commission, a committee that assisted the city in acquiring public art and promoting and enhancing the city’s collection of public artwork.

  • Date: 12/17/2020 6:30 PM - 7:59 PM

Please join the City of Clayton and H3 Studio, Inc. for a virtual presentation and public forum on the proposed update to Downtown Clayton’s Central Business District Overlay Development Standards and Design Guidelines on Thursday, December 17 at 6:30 PM.

Since January 2020, H3 Studio has been working with City staff, elected officials, and stakeholders to create updated development standards and design guidelines for the portion of Downtown that includes by N. Brentwood Boulevard, N. Central Avenue, N. Bemiston Avenue, and Forsyth Boulevard. This part of Downtown is the heart of the Downtown Clayton’s dining, entertainment, and boutique shopping, and it has been the subject of several significant development proposals. The purpose of this update is to help ensure that new development within this district matches the vision of the Clayton community and preserves the unique and eclectic character of this part of Downtown.

At the public forum, H3 Studio, Inc. will present a summary of the proposed Development Standards and Design Guidelines updates. The presentation will begin at 6:30 PM and will be followed by an open forum session for you to provide your input and feedback on the recommended revisions. Following this meeting, H3 Studio will be preparing the final Development Standards and Design Guidelines updates, which will be presented to the Plan Commission and Board of Aldermen for adoption early next year.
