Fire Prevention Week is October 8 - 14 and this year’s theme is “Every Second Counts: Plan 2 Ways Out!” Your Clayton firefighter/paramedics, along with out mascot, Blaze, will be visiting the area schools during that week to teach students about fire safety and prevention. This year we are planning to visit with over 600 students in all 11 area elementary, preschools, and nursery schools. These visits include the students talking with firefighters/paramedics about fire safety, seeing a firefighter dressed in all of his/her gear to show that they aren’t scary, learning the proper use of 911, and a tour of our fire trucks.
You can help us at home as well! Pull all matches and lighters away from your children’s reach, cover your electrical outlets, change smoke alarm batteries every daylight savings change, talk to your children about a meeting place outside the house if there is an emergency, and help them memorize their address and phone number.
